Hlučin Region in the Past

The main aim of this bachelor's thesis is to map the historical development of the area called Hlucin region with the help of available sources. The purpose of this work is to describe all the important historical periods of this territory from the 13th century to the present - starting with the Margraviate of Moravia and the Principality of Opava, through Prussia, the First Republic and the German Reich, ending with Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. The intention is also to clarify what the specifics of Hlucin region came from. Professional publications dealing directly with Hlucin region, or the region of Silesia to which it belongs, in a wider context, were used during the preparation of this work. In addition, materials from the Hlucin Museum were also used, as well as internet sources to capture recent or current facts and figures.
Analyzing the Election Campaign in the Hlučín Region

This thesis deals with the question of whether and how specific value patterns and historical influences are taken into account in political communication and in the election campaign in the historical Hlučín region. It identifies the basic features of the Hlučín population, their manifestations in the present and also the historical development that preceded them. The values that make the Hlučín region a specific region are, among others, diligence, conservatism, the strong position of the church, ties to Germany and Poland, the character of the border region, a unique dialect and a sense of order. The research itself consists of a questionnaire survey in electronic form among members of political parties active in the historic region, as well as an analysis of election materials available in the press (printed and online through the Monitora interface), on the Internet and social networks, or provided by the parties themselves. The principle of adapting the political campaign utilizes the model of political marketing, especially the model of Lees-Marshment. The research of Zich, Anýžová et al. is used to identify the basic value orientations. based on the European Social Survey and other publications dealing with the history of the Hlučín region. Literature as a medium of memory in the Hlučín region at the example of writings of Jana Schlossarková

of the thesis "Literature as a medium of memory in the Hlučín region at the example of writings of Jana Schlossarková"; solver Michaela Kosařová Writings of Jana Schlossarková (*1941) are one of the important media of collective memory of the Hlučín area. The aim of this thesis is to analyse them. Her work is characterized in the main part of the thesis with the aid of the theories of collective memory and its media according to Maurice Halbwachs, Jan and Aleida Assmann, Astrid Erll and others. The common acknowledged theories are implemented in Jana Schlossarková's writings using predominantly the sample of the last published titles "Co na Prajzske se stalo" and "Co na Prajzske se povědalo". These two books include most of the previously published writings of the author. I analysed the contents, the style and the impact of the author's writing on the preservation and archiving of the specific local memory. The specific textual level is examined in the poem "Jak to s nami bylo". The key relevant paradigms for this memory and identity are shown on this sample. Hlučín Soldiers in the Wehrmacht - Conflicting Narrative in the Czech Culture of Remembrance

This thesis examines the public manifestations of the culture of remembrance of WWII in the Hlučín Region, with an emphasis on the commemorations of the fallen local soldiers fighting in the Wehrmacht. The aim of the thesis is to describe the public commemorations of WWII in the Hlučín Region, and to examine the relation between the regional and the mainstream Czech narrative. The core difference between the narratives arises from the fact that the Hlučín residents took part in WWII on the side of the Germans. I investigate the means used in the commemorations, as well as who initiates, organizes and finances the commemorations and what are the motivations of the commemorations' participants. Among the means, I focus on the analyses of the memorials and graves of the fallen soldiers, as well as on acts of piety. I concentrate on the period after the Velvet Revolution, when the particular narrative of the Hlučín Region ceased to be a taboo. In the first chapter I present the terms, theoretical concepts and methodology of the research. The second chapter deals with the history of the Hlučín Region and the identity of its inhabitants.
